PDF proofs are necessary for checking your work before submitting. The PDF represents how your page will print — submitting a page means you’re signing off on that PDF.
If a PDF doesn’t match what you expect, contact Tech Support before submitting the page.
- PDF status icons in Book module: Red = PDF not yet generated for the current version. Green = PDF is current. You don’t need green icons constantly, but periodically generate proofs to review your work.
- Generate from Book module: Click the PDF icon on any page to generate a standard PDF. To generate a spread PDF, hold Ctrl (Windows) or Command (Mac) and click both pages, then click the icon.
- Generate from Page Design: Use the File menu to generate a PDF. Where the PDF is downloaded to and where it will open varies based on your computer and browser settings.
- Printing PDFs: Your default printer settings will likely scale the page down to fit on 8.5×11 paper — element sizes on the printout will not reflect actual print size in the book.
- Multi-Spread PDFs (Advisers Only): Advisers can generate a single PDF containing multiple spreads at once. Click Export > Create Multi-Spread PDF. See the video tutorial on Multi-Spread PDFs for more information.
